This image was taken in full midday light, 1:47 PM exactly, which in Ecuador means no shadows at all. So indeed a little difficult to transcript a sense of 3D dimension. Struggling with composition I finally got a good sense of depth for this landscape. Which illustrate what a lot of photographers are saying : “there is no good or bad light, there is just light”. It is not always possible to shoot under ideal conditions. Always try to take advantage of every situation.
The MuertoPungo lagoon is located on top of the lava flow of Antisanilla at 3950 m. The Antisanilla is a lava flow that rose from the soil and not from the Antisana volcano. The hydrography of this area created a lot of lagoons in the rugged volcanic terrain, all of them famous for their suitability for trout fishing.
