Warm sunset lightning when canoeing upstream the Cuyabeno river. It’s 4:45 PM, that’s about 1 hour before sunset and we’ve got a beautiful gold light illuminating the jungle and the river. Fifteen minutes later, this light will disappear behind the dense vegetation and after half an hour it will already be darkening. No golden hour or blue hour in the Amazon region !

Cuyabeno river

In the Amazon of Ecuador there is a wet and a dry season. The dry season usually begins in December and ends in early or mid-March. But these are general trends. You can have a relatively dry period in the wet season or vice versa. For transportation in the Amazon region, rainfall is very important because the water in the rivers can get very low during the dry season. This image was taken end of October, during thus the « rainy » season.
